VoterDrive Brings GOTV Into the 21st Century

New coalition to provide free rides to polls using Uber’s on-demand platform

WASHINGTON, DC –VoterDrive LLC and APCO Worldwide, today announced the launch of the VoterDrive™ on-demand service, a bipartisan get-out-the-vote program aimed at providing individuals with a free ride to and from the polls using Uber’s highly desirable rideshare platform.

“VoterDrive brings a 21st century solution to a major problem facing our democracy, low voter participation,” said Rich Masterson, CEO of VoterDrive. “Modern life has evolved dramatically since the last time we had an open race for president in 2008. It’s time that the way people get out to vote evolved as well, and VoterDrive is that evolution.”

Using Uber’s on-demand ride platform, VoterDrive will provide voters with a free ride to and from their polling location (up to $10 per ride) by requesting and scheduling a ride through the VoterDrive.us website. Voters can sign up to request a ride to the polls at www.voterdrive.us.

Less than 60 percent of eligible voters went to the polls in 2012, down from 62.3 percent in 2008. According to the Pew Research Center, the United States ranked 31st of 35 countries in voter turnout among highly developed, democratic nations.
